I recently read this book and I would thoroughly recomend it for a lighthearted, frothy, fun read. It is the perfect book for summer with the high society holiday vibe. So many characters have depth and intrigue and you are constantly changing who you want to root for.
I have seen this book described online as Gossip Girl and Made In Chelsea in a book and as an avid watcher of both of those shows I could not agree more. It follows the entwined lives of BJ Ballentine and Magnolia Parks, two high flying, high society individuals and the trials and tribulations of their relationship. It alternates each chapter who is narrating, which I enjoyed as I felt it kept the plot constantly moving and made for a more interesting read. It also encouraged a deeper dive into the backstories and psyche of both main characters which was refreshing as so often authors do this in two separate books.
There are also several members of the couples friendship group, including Henry (BJ’s brother), Pailli and Perry and the Hemmes brothers, Jonah and Christian who we also learn details about, though I have a sneaking suspicion there will be more on these characters in the following books. Whilst there are a lot (and I mean a LOT) of characters I didn’t feel at any point that they were lacking depth, it did feel more like a reality TV show in that some we spent more time with and some were just passing through.
I really did enjoy this book and there were some events and one twist in particular that thoroughly shocked me and kept the book interesting. It certainly isn’t a standard romance book and it is not predictable which meant it was an engaging and enjoyable read. I definitely recomend it.
