With summer in full swing now I seem to be finding more time to read. Lazy days reading in the sun are such a nice way to spend time and I’m currently writing this looking at the sea from a Grecian villa with a pile of books next to me.
With that being said there are so many books I have on my TBR that I cannot wait to read, so here are 5 books I’m really excited to read.
- Beach Read by Emily Henry
My best friend got me this book for Christmas so I could read it over Summer and I’m very excited to see what all the Emily Henry hype is about. I have heard so many good things about her books and I think it looks like the perfect summer read- frothy and lighthearted and full of summer charm.
- ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas
A court of thorns and roses or ACOTAR as it is nicknamed is one of the most hyped books on booktok and many platforms alike. I have had the book for a while but haven’t picked it up because I wasn’t sure I had the time to commit to a series but with it being Summer I want to give the first book a try. I love the fantasy genre and I’ve heard mixed reviews so I’m intrigued to see what it’s about.
- A Touch of Ruin by Scarlett St. Clair
I read a touch of darkness last summer and it really got me out of a reading slump. I love mythology and I felt the plot was just so inventive so I’m really excited to see where St. Clair takes the second book. On an unrelated note I also loved the covers of the books.
- Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Yet again a fantasy read (I don’t only read fantasy I promise), Serpent and Dove is a hefty book but I’ve had it for a while and want to give it a read. The witchy vibes of the book intrigued me so I’m hopeful this will be a good book!
- These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
This is a fantasy book with an edge, based loosely on Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet it is about two rival gangs in 1920’s Shanghai. As a Shakespeare enthusiast and fantasy reader this book has everything I could want from a book. I don’t see much discussion of it online so I’m excited to read it and give my verdict!
It is probably going to take me quite a while to get through these books, let alone my whole TBR, as university is starting back up soon and with that so are reading lists, but I hope I can get to them soon and when I do be sure to check out the reviews!
Yours, JustJasLettering xxx
