5 new years resolutions you may actually keep

Aah January, the month of newly purchased gym subscriptions, veganism, no drinking and dieting. Well, that seems like a pretty dreary month if you ask me, and most resolutions are broken in the first week of Jan and impossible to maintain. This got me thinking, what resolutions are achievable and actually better your life without making you miserable and overwhelmed. Here are my top five:

  • Taking ten minutes a day for yourself

So many people live at their job or to please other people and that just doesn’t feed your soul. You know yourself best, and the longest relationship you will ever have is with yourself, so put yourself first and engage in self care, a hobby or even just a quiet few minutes for you.

  • Having half an hour to do a hobby that doesn’t use a screen

Ok, so not everyone actually has the time to read a book a week or crochet a blanket, but taking half an hour regularly in your week will boost your mood and help you find calm away from the internet.

  • Eat meat free once a week

Being vegan or vegetarian is a lifestyle choice, and definitely a healthy one, but it’s just not feasible for everyone. Whether it be the cost, family members or simply a lack of inclination, eating at least one meat free meal is good for you and for the planet.

  • Only drink at the weekend

Again, the sober lifestyle is a healthy one, but not for everyone. Whether you enjoy fine dining, having a drink after a long week or maybe you’re a student, limiting your consumption for the year could be a great change to instil.

  • Exercise IN SOME FORM once a week

The gym isn’t for everyone, and it isn’t for me. I choose to swim and rock climb, but running, cycling, even a walk in the fresh air, are all great options for getting out and keeping fit and healthy 🙂
